Install on Ubuntu 16.04 fails on make

I followed the Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Build Guide (perhaps wrongly thinking that it would work for 16.04). I get past the g++ --version and cmake --version steps ok. Make fails with the following error message:

[ 81%] Linking CXX executable …/…/…/utf8-test
/usr/bin/ld: warning:, needed by //home/r/anaconda3/lib/, not found (try using -rpath or -rpath-link)
//home/r/anaconda3/lib/ undefined reference to `icudt58_dat’
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
src/utf/tools/CMakeFiles/utf8-test.dir/build.make:96: recipe for target ‘utf8-test’ failed
make[2]: *** [utf8-test] Error 1
CMakeFiles/Makefile2:4594: recipe for target ‘src/utf/tools/CMakeFiles/utf8-test.dir/all’ failed
make[1]: *** [src/utf/tools/CMakeFiles/utf8-test.dir/all] Error 2
Makefile:127: recipe for target ‘all’ failed
make: *** [all] Error 2

The file is in the directory with //home/r/anaconda3/lib/ so I’m not sure what the issue is.

Any help appreciated. Thank you.
